The Cushitic group

3 Comments · Languages

The Cushitic group is very diverse and contains a large number of components. It is desirable to group them in relation to their distribution.

The Cushitic of the north, the Agew, Bilen, as well as the Kemant, are in the area west of Tekeze and north of Lake Tana. The Bejas are found in the extreme north.

The Sahos, who are nomads in the coastal depression between Mitsiwa in the north and the Gulf of Zula in the east and in the western escarpment of Akeleguzay are of this stock.

The Rashaidas and the Afars, occupying the arid depression on the coast of the Red sea, are also among this group. Except for the Agews, the majority of the northern Cushitic people are muslims.

The Oromos consist of a sizeable majority of the Cushitic stock, and are found in almost all of the administrative regions south of Tigray and Gonder.

However, with exceptions in central Welega, central Shewa, and the highlands of Bale and Harer, they occupy the sparsely-populated lowlands. The eastern and south-eastern Cushitics are the Somalis who occupy the arid zone of Ogaden in Harerge and the southern portion of Bale administrative region.

The Sidamo-Kembata. The chief components of this group are Sidama, Hadiya, Gedeo and Kembata whose territory is surrounded mostly by Oromos and, in the south west, by Omotic languages. Most of the Cushitic languages are spoken only in Ethiopia.

    Hey,

The majority of those assimilated people among the Oromo are the old Hadiya stocks.

The classification of cushitic people that is Sidama-Kembata should not have been like that. it should have to consider the number of population under categoration. The sub categorization title should be changed to ‘Hadiya-Sidama’. Hadiya people are the most ancient and origin of all those South western cushitic groups.

The old Islamic Hadiya ethnic stocks were totally assimilated into the neighbouring ethnic groups especially in Oromos (Arssi 85% and Bali oromos), Wolayita, Gurage, Silte.

Thanks to the brutal highlanders (christian kingdom) and oromos, the most Powerful Hadiya sultanate was disintegrated since 13th century.

The most important part for these people is not the assimilation or nothing else.
But the most important point is that where the Origin of these is major Cushitic groups beyond the oral sayings?
I know there are a number of historians from the Oromo, Hadiya, Sidama who attended a 5 century history but no one come up with the origin of this big nation.
If you come across any facts where is the origin of our ancestries? please, share with me?
    Thanks
